Dr. Pillow is a Licensed Psychologist who received his Doctorate degree in 1993 in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit-Mercy. He has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Michigan State University, along with Masters and Specialist degrees in School Psychology from the University of Detroit.
Dr. Pillow has always held a passion for all sport activity and its impact on one’s life skills, social development, and sense of well-being. He participated in football, wrestling, and track. Dr. Pillow also competed in wrestling and judo at the college level and coached a high school wrestling team.
In addition, Dr. Pillow has dedicated himself to learning and mastering the required proficiencies for Sport Psychologists. In this pursuit, his expertise and proficiencies have developed through his many sport-specific, clinical/educational experiences, attendance at numerous sport science workshop/training programs, including yearly attendence at the Big Sky conference, which invites only sport consultants who provide psychological health care for NCAA I/II/III collegiate athletic settings, professional teams and elite/Olymipic athletic programs. He has also obtained many hours of private consultations with leading Sport Psychologists throughout the country.
Professional memberships include: the American Psychological Association (APA), Michigan Psychological Association (MPA), Society for Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology (Division 47, APA), and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Dr. Pillow is currently pursuing certification status through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
